HOORAY! – featured on style me pretty

I am beyond thrilled to announce that Aura May Photography is featured on the Style Me Pretty blog today! For an entire year leading up to my own wedding, I visited the Style Me Pretty blog every single morning. My day just didn’t feel complete until I had soaked in my daily dose of wedding inspiration and gorgeous photography. Being published on their blog is truly an honor and a dream come true!

Claire and Tyrell’s wedding was beyond gorgeous, but they are also really beautiful people inside as well as out. It was an honor to capture their special day and truly icing on the cake to have it published on SMP! Congrats you two!

TROY & AMANDA – seattle wedding at woodland park rose garden

While I’m on maternity leave waiting for our little man to arrive (any day now!), I thought it would be a fantastic time to share some pretty images. I couldn’t think of a better way to do that than share Amanda and Troy’s wedding.

I had the pleasure of taking Amanda and Troy’s engagement photos (see them here) and was so happy to photograph their wedding as well! Amanda was such a stunning bride – but I don’t even need to tell you that because you can see for yourself! I loved the colors these two chose. Deep purple and fuchsia added such a great pop to a really beautiful day and the bouquet created by Denney Designs was beyond stunning. Like most of Seattle I am pretty obsessed with the gorgeous umbrellas at Bella Umbrella and they were so fun to play with in these bright colors.

We lucked out with a beautiful sunny day in the Woodland Park Rose Garden and UW campus for this fun celebration. Amanda and Troy are such kind people and they have amazing friends that added so much energy and fun to the whole day. It was such a privilege to photograph it all! Lots of love to you both Amanda & Troy :).

BRYAN & LINSEY – gig harbor wedding at canterwood

I first met Linsey just before the sixth grade. Her family had moved into town and she was starting school as the new girl. We were fast friends instantly. It’s amazing to think that we’ve been friends now for twenty years – TWENTY! Wow, does that make me feel old. But it also makes me feel really grateful that I’ve known Linsey for most of my life.

I first met Bryan shortly after Linsey and I graduated from college. I remember thinking then that he was a really thoughtful and kind person. When I found out that Linsey and Bryan were engaged I was beyond excited for them both. Isn’t that what everyone wants for their friends? To marry someone thoughtful and kind, who is also just crazy smitten? One thing is for sure. These two are meant to be together. The way he looks at her. It’s love. Lots of love.

When Linsey asked me if I would consider photographing their wedding of course I said yes! The wedding took place in our hometown of Gig Harbor at the Canterwood Golf and Country Club. Bryan works at 7 Seas brewery with Linsey’s brother, so they brewed up an extra special single hop pale ale called Ball & Chain just for the event! And they had donuts instead of a cake. Donuts!

The morning of their wedding day it was pouring rain. We knew that it would be a great day rain or shine, but by the time we headed out for their first look it had stopped! What followed could only be described as the party of the year. Linsey and Bryan, I am so grateful that you found your way to each other. Thank you for trusting me to photograph your biggest of days, it truly was an honor. What a happy, happy wedding. Wishing you both a happy, happy life to follow!

WELL HELLO BLOG – and a bit of good news to share

It’s a bit hard for me to believe that it’s actually been this long since my last blog post. My poor blog! I haven’t forgotten about this fun place to post my images, but I have been a busy, busy gal. After a very fun and very busy summer wedding season I had a very fun and very busy fall and winter portrait season and now it’s February! My first priority is always to take care of my clients and make sure they have their eagerly awaited images, so this blog has been patiently waiting here for some attention.

I also have some very fun news to share – Aura May Photography is growing! Literally! I am pregnant with my first little one and couldn’t be more excited. We are expecting a baby boy in April and are beyond giddy to meet him. I will be taking a bit of time away for his arrival and won’t be scheduling any additional sessions for April, May and June. July is starting to book up, so if you’d like to schedule a summer portrait session please contact me as soon as you can so you can reserve your spot. Can you tell I’m looking forward to summer already?

Speaking of babies, here is a photograph of little Isla. Isn’t she adorable? I had the honor of photographing her last weekend for my dear friend Sandi of Sandi Bazemore Photography. We first met when we studied photography together at the University of Washington and I’m so happy for her and her husband to be parents just a few months before us. Welcome to the world baby Isla. You are very, very loved by some amazing people!
